Translated: Nike’s varied short row heel with gusset extension
I was asked by Deb from Minnesota if I could translate my instructions »Nikes abgewandelte Bumerangferse mit Spannerweiterung«, because Deb says she isn’t able to understand any german. So while visiting my parents I took my Laptop, sat down, and translated the tutorial. Therefore as an exception this post is in english, and it is specially for you, Deb! (Other english speaking knitters are welcome to read and get the instructions too, of course!)
I am no native speaker, nor have I ever been that good in english, so I beg your pardon if some mistakes remained. Courageously I asked Kimberly if she would be so kind to go over my stuff in her very little spare time. Lucky me, she did! So yesterday I went to the knit meeting in Aurum’s to talk to Kim and get her corrections. A very big Thank You to you, Kimberly, for being so patient while answering my questions! All remaining mistakes are mine, so don’t blame it on Kim! ;o)
I love to give away little presents, and so I knit a miniature sock as a little something for Kim as a thank-you. Reddish and pinky as she loves it. :oD
Although I proofread the instructions several times and Kimberly went over it, too, there still might be mistakes or unclear phrases. So this is on you knitters out there who will try out this heel: Please leave a comment or send me an email (address linked within the file) if you have any annotations or questions! :o) Certainly you can also leave a comment just to say thanks. ;o) So here it comes, Nike’s varied short row heel with gusset extension (file is about 4,5MB).
I would love to hear from you how it works, and if you like to link to the instructions, please link to this post instead. Thank you and happy knitting!

Nicole,
This is a concise, clear instructional manner in which you provided a great technique to help us in using the short row heel with gusset extension you developed for all of us. With this translation many more people will be able to use it. I know it took a great deal of time from both yourself and Kimberly, and that time was very much appreciated. The pictures also took a lot of time to complete. The pictures are exactly that extremelly complete and clear. To give so freely is a sign of the compassion you two have for other knitters. Thanks so very much for all that you have given to us. Deb
You can’t say your English isn’t very good anymore-I know better. I had very little to correct!! Thanks for my little sock, I don’t really want to show Alida for fear I’ll never see it again. :-) Great job on the tutorial!!

Nicole,
Wanted to update you. I am using the gusset extention translation in both plans and actions. I really find it cleans up the sock in that area so much. The other day I came across Tammina’s picture of the red sock that started all of this. Thanks you so very much for the work and time.
Deb proudly to say from Minnesota

Wonderful, clear instructions.
Thank you so much for translating your method to English and for sharing so freely.
I can’t wait to try them.
